Sunnmørsåttring - A traditional wooden boat "ottring" from Sunnmøre, Norway

This boat is the only surviving original Ottring from Sunnmøre in western Norway. It was built in the mid 19th century. The wooden boats from Sunnmøre are known for their asymmetric square sail (which then is trapeziod, rather than quadratic) and the special plank runs in the lapstrake hull, with skewed strakes in the lower plank tiers. Sunnmørsåttringen her er den eneste bevarte av de originale storbåtene fra Sunnmøre. Den er bygd som snedbetning midt på 1800-tallet. Riggen er et asymmetrisk råsegl av lin og hamp.
